The Epicurious Wanderers!

Thank you Cambodia

Thank you Cambodia for the most amazing time.  The people are so friendly and welcoming, the country side is amazing, the history is heart breaking.

Helen and I have had the most amazing time.  The streets of Phnom Penh showcase the disparity between the haves and the have nots as I’ve said before but everywhere the people smile.

Always smiling

Always smiling

We have tried to understand the brutality that existed here and to see the people make new beginnings is heartwarming.  If you get to visit this country hopefully you will also experience what we have.

This is not Bali or Phuket, you don’t just come to lie on the beach or by the pool, the only way to experience Cambodia is to get out and see what it has to offer.  From the museums showing the recent past to the magnificent temples showing the much older past there is so much to see.

Siem Reap carries on where Phnom Penh finishes, it is bigger than I had expected but has an unbelievable charm that has to be experienced firsthand.  Grab a tuk tuk if you can and ask the drive to show you around, it’s a cheap and easy way to see the town.  A few dollars goes a long way here, it’s easy to eat and drink like a king.  Be sure though to leave a tip to show your gratitude, it’s not something Aussies do but here it is normal. And remember to smile and stay relaxed, things sometimes happen slowly, just go with the flow.

Again, thank you Cambodia, we will be back there is still more of this amazing place we want to see.

Cambodia is a country finding its feet in the world of tourism. It seems to be learning fast. The Service is friendly. The food here is fresh & very tasty. There is loads of variety.
We will miss Cambodia as Simon said. Definitely a place to put on your bucket list.
